Is my property right for campit?

Our community of campers and nature lovers are looking for unique camping experiences. We welcome many different kinds of listings on our site, right from someone’s backyard to tent campgrounds, farm lands, caravan sites, cabins, yurts, teepees, domes, RV sites, pods and luxury glamping sites etc.

It’s completely up to you where you want the campers to sleep on your property. That can either be in their own tent, a separate structure or both. As long as campers have a spot to pitch a tent or any other structure to spend the night you’re welcome to list on campit.

Almost anyone can be a host and start making extra money. It’s free to sign up and list your land. The listings available on campit are as unique as our community of campers.

How much does it cost to list on campit?

Nothing! It’s free of cost and without any contracts.

How much money can I actually make?

There is no limit to it and how much money you make completely depends upon what you are offering, the kind of listing you have and where it is location.

On sites like Airbnb hosts are making thousands of pounds a month, so there is huge potential in that. With campit you can add as many camps and sites as you like so you can always earn more by hosting more.

Does campit take a standard commission?

Campit doesn’t charge any commission. It is completely free to use both for hosts as well as the campers.

When and how do I get paid?

We are working on our payment methods, hence currently each host need to organise their own separate payment systems. However very soon in near future the hosts will be paid through Campit directly in their bank accounts.

The cancellation policy you select will appear in your listing.
Campers will also see it again and have to agree to it right before they confirm their booking.

One thing to keep in mind when setting your cancellation policy is to select the option that works well for you while at the same time giving flexibility to the campers.

Do I need to provide access to a toilet?

We do not require our host to compulsorily provide toilet facilities in order to be able to list with campit.

If you decide to go ahead with providing a toilet on your site, it is highly important to make this very clear on your listing.

What about campfires?

It is up to you to decide if providing fire pits and allowing campfires is suitable for your property. We recommend contacting your local fire authority to get the most up to date rules and regulations. Also there are other alternatives to wood fire pits that may be more appropriate for your land.

Am I required to provide drinking water?

We do not require you to provide drinking water. Just make sure to indicate it on your listing that there is no drinking water and campers will have to supply their own.

Do I have to interact with the campers?

It is completely up to you. You are not required to interact with the campers. In fact many might actually prefer to the privacy, peace and quiet. If you are a social person then feel free to do so.

We suggest proper and clear signage and maps to help guide to the right area.

What about trash?

The campers are required to pack out what they pack in, they are supposed to leave the site as they found it. It is part of our terms and conditions which the campers have to sign.

Can I add additional listings to the same property?

Yes, creating multiple listings is helpful when you want to offer different types of campgrounds or camping experiences on your property – for example, if you’ve got some tent sites and also camping pods then it makes sense for keeping different prices and having separate set of information for the listings.

How much should I charge for my listing?

That’s completely up to you! Charge whatever you feel is suitable for your property.

We suggest charging a modest amount to start with, you can change your price at any time in the future. Check local campsites in your area to find out the going rate for campsites with similar activities and amenities.

What my photos should look like?

Good pictures are most important to a listing as that’s a visual medium to attract potential campers to your listing. Our advice is to keep it simple and make it look like somewhere you’d personally love to camp. If possible hire a professional photographer to click the pictures, or else even decent pictures from your smart phone are completely acceptable, again it is entirely up to you.

Below are some tips on showcasing your property:

  • Clean up the site – Before taking photos of the site clear any clutter in and around the site and make sure to remove anything unnatural from the site.
  • Photo orientation – Take wide landscape (horizontal) photos instead of portrait (vertical) ones
  • Lighting – For outdoor sites it is advisable to click pictures during the golden hour (just when the sun is setting) to get a warm flattering light. For indoor, make sure you click during the day time when there is bright light.
  • Processing – Simple and clean looks best, avoid using too many filters and over editing the photos.
